Ingi Poulsen

Ingi Poulsen is an attorney-at-law and accredited mediator.

He holds an LL.M. degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Iceland and a Master’s degree in Management and Strategy from the University’s Faculty of Business Administration. He is currently pursuing doctoral research in the field of sustainability law.

Ingi has more than two decades of experience advising and representing individuals, businesses, and public institutions across a broad range of legal fields. He has appeared in a large number of cases before courts and administrative authorities and has acted as a mediator in numerous complex disputes.

He is a specialist in environmental law, climate law, sustainability law, and administrative law. He has published peer-reviewed articles and delivered numerous lectures and presentations within his areas of expertise. Ingi serves as an assistant professor at Bifröst University.

Ingi has served on numerous governmental committees, boards, and advisory bodies, as well as committees established by professional and interest organizations. Among other appointments, he serves as an alternate member of Iceland’s Environmental and Natural Resources Complaints Board.

 

Dr. Snjólaug Árnadóttir

Dr. Snjólaug Árnadóttir is a legal scholar, Associate Professor at the Reykjavík University School of Law, and Director of the Sustainability and Climate Law Institute at Reykjavík University (SoL).

 

She obtained her Ph.D. from the School of Law at the University of Edinburgh in 2018 and completed both her undergraduate and master's degrees in law at Reykjavík University in 2014.

 

She also holds diplomas from the IFLOS Summer Academy at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy. Dr. Árnadóttir has been a visiting scholar at the University of Copenhagen, the Catholic University of Portugal in Lisbon, the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea, and the University of British Columbia.

 

Her areas of expertise include public international law, the law of the sea, environmental law, climate law, and international treaty law. She has many years of experience advising foreign governments, Icelandic public authorities, and both domestic and international companies and institutions.

 

Dr. Árnadóttir has authored nearly thirty peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, secured competitive research grants, delivered numerous presentations at academic conferences, and frequently appears in the media as an expert on international law.

 

She has participated in a wide range of strategic projects and served on expert committees and advisory bodies, including the International Law Association Committee on International Law and Sea Level Rise, the Reykjavík University Sustainability Committee, and specialized governmental working groups.

Dr. Bjarni Mar Magnusson

Dr. Bjarni Már Magnússon is an attorney-at-law with decades of experience in academia. He is a Research Affiliate at the Geopolitics and Technology Hub of the Cornell Brooks School Tech Policy Institute at Cornell University in New York.

 

Dr. Magnússon holds a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh School of Law, an LL.M. in Ocean and Coastal Law from the University of Miami School of Law, a Master’s degree in International Relations, and a Cand. Jur. degree from the University of Iceland.

 

He has extensive experience advising foreign governments, international organizations, Icelandic public authorities, as well as private companies and industry associations on a broad range of international legal and policy matters.

 

His principal areas of expertise include public international law, particularly the law of the sea, Arctic affairs, climate law, the constitutional dimensions of Icelandic foreign affairs, and the legal aspects of security and defence policy.

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Magnússon has conducted extensive research and is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed academic articles. He has delivered a large number of scholarly presentations at conferences and institutions around the world. He is a former professor at Bifröst and Reykjavik University and has received a number of prestigious research grants and scholarships, including support from Fulbright, Chevening and NATO’s Science for Peace and Security.

 

Dr. Magnússon has extensive experience in public policy development and has served on numerous governmental committees and advisory bodies within his fields of expertise. He is a member of the working group for preparing Iceland’s submissions to the United Nations Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf concerning the outer limits of Iceland’s continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles and serves as a member of Iceland’s Climate Council.
